Zygomatic implants – Great clinical & aesthetic results for the rehabilitation of atrophic maxillary jaws.

Zygomatic implant with added possibility of immediate loading and thus return the chewing and aesthetic function faster then the use of bone grafts.

Zygomatic implants  designed to provide a solution for cases of atrophic maxilla. The shape of the Zygomatic Implant consists of sharp threads at the apical part for maximum retention to the Zygomatic bone. The implant has 2.42mm internal hex connection, which enables simple and easy restoration. The Zygomatic Implant is available in a variety of lengths, from 30mm to 60mm.

CLINICAL BENEFITS

  • For Zygomatic region of the atrophic Maxilla
  • Self Tapping
  • High Primary Stability
  • The machined long body reduces adherence of Perio-Pathogens = reduces the chance for inflammation

Clinical case

Presents partial edentulous maxilla, with severe bone resorption. After radiological and CBCT assessments it was decided to extract all the remaining teeth followed by immediate implantation. The surgical plan was to install 2 Pterygoid implants  (one on the right side and one on the left side), 4 Zygomatic implants (two on the right side and two on the left side).

Treatment plan:

  • Clearance – Extractions of all teeth (maxilla);
  • Installation of 6 implants in maxilla
  • 2 Pterygoid implants
  • 4 Zygoma implants

The surgical procedure was performed without complications, achieving good primary stability of the implants.

Conclusions

Zygomatic implants provide good clinical results for the rehabilitation of atrophic maxillary jaws, with the added possibility of immediate loading and thus return the chewing and aesthetic function faster then the use of bone grafts.
Therefore, zygomatic implants are of great help in the prosthetic rehabilitation of the severe atrophic jaw in both partially edentulous and total edentulous patients, being a great tool for the surgeon-implantologist when performing rehabilitations without the use of grafts and with delayed or immediate function. The technique for the placement of zygomatic implants should be considered as a major surgical procedure and requiers appropriate training.
